Machinery Brackets & Mounts

Plan mounting faces, bolt holes and support geometry around the actual assembly load path. Custom brackets are reviewed as individual drawing-defined parts, with the material and primary process selected together.

Key manufacturing requirements

Confirm these points on the drawing and purchase specification.

  • Mounting and loadsDefine mounting direction, load path and cyclic or impact loads; agree any load validation separately.
  • Fasteners and fitsSpecify bolt, pin and clamp interfaces, including the features that must be machined together.
  • Ribs and datumsReview rib transitions, clamping surfaces and access for machining and inspection.
  • Material and forming routeAgree the alloy and primary casting or forging route before planning secondary machining.
  • Assembly acceptanceSet mounting-face, hole-position and fit requirements from the assembled position; specify any proof-load or fatigue validation separately.

Questions

Questions from OEM teams

Can the material be selected from the shape?

No. Material selection needs the design loads, environment, manufacturing route and acceptance requirements.

Does a machined surface identify the primary route?

No. Machining can follow casting or forging, or begin from wrought stock. The blank route must be recorded separately.
